A fist full of dollars

As he sat there, not
with so much as a thought
neither a tune
nor a song in his mind,
further from truth
his heart pushed his mind
but never, unfortunately, could make him blind.

Tormented by his plight,
having tasted blood in youth
the free spirit in him lamented
as it had been, since forever now,
denied of bliss.

A thought then entered
his trained and chained mind
like a pebble flung
by a callous boy
in the passive sea
sending a shiver of ripples
down his spine
as he was reminded
of having sold all his dreams
for a 'fist full of dollars'.

This is typically the change of state everyone passes through. From a careless child to a responsible, earnig adult who has to look after family and provide for their needs. It's the end of living for yourself and the beginning of living for others. Surprisingly it is not as bad as it seems to look. Selfishness leads only to narcissism, whereas you actually grow in stature when you start living responsibly.

It is not selling the soul for a fistful of dollars. It is earning a living and being accountable. All play and no work might be the ideal of every human being but what would be the state of earth if the Sun lived just for itself and the water and air lived at its own will?

That's the food for thought we have to ponder. By being responsible we become a 'giver; instead of a 'free rider'. We become a support instead of a parasite. The stronger the person, the bigger a support is he/she to the society.

its not as bad as it may seem... keep them simple or aim high, life and dreams never gel together, dollars or no dollars, trust me.. try enjoying what you get remember that not so ol' saying when life throws lemons go make lemonade :)
